


On December 6th, the Closing Ceremony & Award Evening of the Guangzhou International Documentary Film Festival (GZDOC) 2007 was held ceremoniously at the Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall. The 5-day GZDOC has successfully concluded. The Warrior from Poland won the Documentary Award and An Olympic Dream in A Village won the Jury Award, one of the four GZDOC awards.
The theme for the GZDOC 2007 competition was "Road to the Olympics". 44 films from 24 countries (including 17 from China) took part in this competition, among which 21 were short listed. These documentary films penetrated into the arctic poles, war-stricken Afghanistan and every corner of China, deducting the one world one dream with unadorned techniques and moving camera language.
Mr. Michele, Jury President of GZDOC 2007 highly affirmed the quality of the documentaries in this competition. He thought these documentaries were very mature in the respects of both technique and art. After counseling, the jury also awarded the "Most Innovative Award" to Chairman George from Ghana and the "Best Narrative Film" to Fairies' Ultimate Dance, Rhythmic Gymnastics กใ Prayer for Beijing from Japan. At the same time, GZDOC 2007 also awarded jury special awards to four documentaries, including Iris Chang: The Rape of Nanking.
