At the 8th China Arts Festival that recently concluded, the Guangzhou Song & Dance Ensemble and the Guangzhou Acrobatic Troupe won the 12th Wenhua Award – China’s highest prize for professional dance performances set by the Ministry of Culture – for their musical ‘Star’ and acrobatic drama ‘Journey to the West’ respectively. On December 11th, the Guangzhou Song & Dance Ensemble and Guangzhou Acrobatic Troupe received letters of congratulation from Guangzhou Party’s Committee and the Guangzhou Municipal Government for their great achievements.

The letter of congratulation said that it was not only the first time for Guangzhou to win a Wenhua Award but the first time for a capital city to win two awards at one time. It was a milestone in the development of Guangzhou’s stage art.
