Taikong Mini Hudielan

The largest flower market in Guangzhou, the Spring Market of Flowers' Exhibition Garden was opened to the public on January 22nd and would be closed 15 days later on February 6th.

A broad spectrum of grotesque flowers is on exhibit. Among them is the Japanese Pendula Dendrobium which has come to China for the first time and is valued at over RMB20, 000 for one pot as well as the Taikong Mini Hudielan, the only flower of its kind in the garden and one that grows from seedlings that have been cultivated in space on a spacecraft.

As some insider put it, the flower market has seen stable prices, reduced conventional types and rising prices for some new types.

According to a person responsible for the garden, the garden is the earliest and longest spring flower market this year. The other markets will be opened around the Eve of the Lunar New Year and last for two to three days, shorter than the 15 days' duration for this garden which was opened early to facilitate citizens to purchase flowers for Spring Festival.

Statistics show that the flower market has attracted the participation of up to 460 flower companies which have brought unique domestic types as well as others from Japan, South Korea and Taiwan.
