Sources from the working conference on management of cultural resources held recently said that Guangzhou would attach importance to the full utilization of cultural resources, aiming at creating at least one cultural brand for each district. For instance, Cantonese Opera and Xiguan Culture in Liwan District, Painting of Lingnan Characteristics and Cantonese business culture in Haizhu District, folk culture in Huangpu District, cultural squares or plazas in Yuexiu District, Baiyun District and Zengcheng would be feature animations and comics as well as Xinghai Cultural Square in Panyu District, Xiangxue Park in Luogang District and waterscapes in Nansha District.
Vice Mayor Xu Zhibiao said that Guangzhou had invested over RMB10 billion in building and reconstructing more than 30 cultural facilities like Guangzhou Opera House, the new Guangzhou Library, the Memorial Hall of the Third National Congress of the CPC, the Guangzhou Literature and Art Center, the Guangzhou Shaheding Art Gallery as well as libraries, cultural plazas and that the cultural centers in districts and cities at the county-level. In two or three years, Guangzhou will witness a sound and multi-functional system of public cultural facilities meeting citizens' spiritual demands.
Xu also said that Guangzhou would focus on the construction and management of cultural facilities such as that of the Guangzhou Opera House, where a system that integrates cultural service with business management perfectly has been established and serves as a model.
