The 2007 Yangcheng Book Fair concluded on November 4th. Sources from the organizing committee reported that the four-day fair attracted approximately 1.35 million people with total sales amounting to RMB 8.5 million. The Tianhe Sports Center, main venue for the book fair, witnessed 200 thousand readers and boasted sales of RMB2.5 million. This session of the book fair was characterized by a larger scale and increasing sales.
More than 150 thousand newly-published books, electronic publications as well as stationeries were available at the book fair. Sales figures showed that readers'interest varied from popular literature like romantic fictions to classical literature and traditional cultures. As a result, what is popular with readers includes works of ancient Chinese sages as well as the current publications like critics on Romance of Three Kingdoms by Yi Zhongtian (a professor of Xiamen University) , critics on Lun Yu (Analects of Confucius) by Yu Dan (professor of Beijing Normal University) and introductions to the Palace Museum and the development of China.
