The 2nd Guangdong International Tourism and Culture Festival was held this November in South China’s Guangdong Province. 130 overseas Chinese Businessmen from Asia, America and Europe and Oceania have joined a delegation called “ the Discovery Trip to Guangdong” to attend the festival invited by the Overseas Chinese Affairs Office of Guangdong Provincial Government.   

To promote the tourism and culture resources in Guangdong, the Overseas Chinese Affairs Office worked out a tailor-made program for the overseas Chinese businessmen. In the evening of 24 November, the delegation attended the marvelous opening ceremony with an unprecedented and wonderful folk art performance featuring local customs and traditions staged in Guangzhou Tianhe Sports Centre. On the following day, the delegation attended the tourism promotional fair which draw a great number of domestic and overseas tourism agencies and enterprises. Members of the Pan-Pearl River Delta (P-PRD) Co-operation Framework signed the co-operation agreements with the tourism departments of the provinces in the fair. Some members of the delegation carry out tourism business so they are happy to meet so many friends from the same sector and share the tourism business opportunities with other businessmen attending the fair.

To see is to believe. In the following days, the delegation are divided into two groups to pay a site visit to the pearl River Delta Cities of Shenzhen, Dongguan, Zhaoqing, Foshan, Zhongshan and Jiangmen. They visited the excellent enterprises, famous local tour sites, ceramic, jewellery, flower, lamp, hardware markets, meet local government officers and entrepreneurs. Most of the delegation members are of their first trip to Guangdong and they are really shocked by the booming development of the economy, the wonderful city plan and the splendid Lingnan Culture. They expressed the strong interest of setting up the trading business or investment in Guangdong Province after the trip.
