2007 Root-seeking Winter Camp opened

A total of 27 overseas Chinese teenagers from New Zealand visited Guangdong for root-seeking on November 25, 2007, which launches the 2007 Root-seeking Winter Camp in Guangdong.

All these teenagers originate from Guangzhou, Zhongshan, Dongguan and Jiangmen. They came back to their ancestral hometown for the first time to seek their roots, aimed to realize their parents¡¦ wishes and their own dreams since their childhood. They will also learn chinese martial art and visit the historical relics in the province.

A total of 16 overseas Chinese teenagers from Guatemala, most of them originating from Guangdong with relatives living here, also started their 10-day winter camp on December 5.

It is the first time for them to take part in the winter camp organized by the Overseas Chinese Affairs Office of Guangdong Province (OCAO). The teenagers are organized to study and live in the Overseas Chinese Vocational School (OCVS). They will study Chinese, martial art, calligraphy, Chinese painting, Chinese history and geography during their stay. In addition, they will also visit some local historic sites.
 
On December 6, 11 more overseas Chinese teenagers from Australia arrived in Guangdong to join their Guatemala cotemporaries.

Root-seeking Summer & Winter Camp in China is held biannually by the Overseas Chinese Affairs Office of Guangdong Province (OCAO) and Overseas Chinese Exchanges Association of Guangdong Province (OCEA).
 
It is expected to help overseas Chinese teenagers learn Chinese, deepen their understanding of China and Chinese culture, and promote communication among Chinese teenagers at home and abroad.

Root-seeking Summer & Winter Camp in China mainly consists of various Chinese training class, Chinese arts and skills learning class, living with Chinese family, exchanges with Chinese counterparts, and visiting cultural and historic relics.

Any overseas Chinese youngsters aging from 16 to 25 who are healthy and interested in China and Chinese culture may contact us and ask for registration.
